Hey there, Moonbeams! Glad to be back with you for more Tarot & Tea. This week’s card is the same card from two weeks ago, which tells me that the Six of Swords still has more to teach us at this time. Interestingly, a lot of synchronicities popped up around this card over the last couple of weeks. I feel grateful for this hopeful message conveyed by the oracle! The Six of Swords is all about moving away from stress, regaining hope, and working our way towards a more positive future. After a difficult situation, we finally have a moment to breathe and reflect on what we have learned. The bigger picture begins to reveal itself with more clarity now that we are no longer in the thick of the fight. Although we may be exhausted from what we’ve been through, we can be thankful that we’ve completed the challenge and made it out in one piece. Additionally, this card indicates an unburdening of oneself; we might experience a feeling of weightlessness as we break away from whatever was previously tormenting us. The ugly part is over and we may now better understand the value of our trials and use the lessons we’ve been taught to cultivate a renewed, positive outlook so that we can move forward into a brighter future.

The tea that I chose to pair with the Six of Swords today is Positivi-Tea. This original Moonrise Herbs tisane (herbal tea) blend is supportive at any time that we need it and is especially helpful during times of transition. Tulsi Basil, Lemon Verbena, Rose petals, Spearmint, Cinnamon chips, and Ashwagandha create an outstanding synergy which I have found to be truly encouraging. Tulsi and Ashwagandha together are a supreme team of adaptogenic herbs which can assist us in balancing many aspects of our being, physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. Another helpful element of this blend is that Tulsi, Lemon Verbena, and Spearmint are all top-notch energetic cleansers, which comes in handy when we’re recovering from something unpleasant. Cinnamon and Rose encourage self-love and quick recovery from heartache. Altogether, Positivi-Tea is a perfect blend of herbs to support the renewal of optimism after a tough time. Oh yes, and I suppose that I should also mention that this is a totally tasty tisane!

Our deck for this week is the Motherpeace Round Tarot. This deck really stands out from the crowd due to the uncommon, round shape of its cards. The reason that the co-authors of this deck, Karen Vogel and Vicki Noble, chose this unusual shape was to reflect the feminine energy and values behind the Motherpeace. The world’s first and best known feminist Tarot deck, the Motherpeace Round Tarot has been a longstanding favorite of practitioners who oppose the patriarchy. Unlike many subsequent feminist decks, the Motherpeace does depict men within its cards—the traditional courtiers of the Minor Arcana suits become a tribal family of Priestesses, Shamans, Daughters, and Sons. We see the Crone replace the Hermit and the Hanged One replace the Hanged Man. Overall, this deck is well-balanced and straightforwardly readable. The vulnerable, almost childlike vibe of the artwork makes this deck feel comforting and easily approachable, which is one of my favorite things about the Motherpeace Round Tarot. Reading this deck feels just a little bit like coming home to your Mama after a rough day.
